Look beyond the image. Check the live record behind the seal.

A seal image alone is not verification. Images can be copied and old records can be reused. Follow the seal's link to the current record page.
Compare three things on the verification page: domain, current status and expiry date. An inactive seal or one issued to another domain cannot verify the site you are visiting.
